Dr. Emily Gutierrez is a doctorally prepared nurse practitioner and nationally recognized expert in functional medicine. With advanced clinical training in both pediatric and adult care, she brings a root-cause, evidence-based approach to optimizing neurological and mental health across the lifespan.
As a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from Johns Hopkins University, Dr. Gutierrez specializes in translational medicine—applying the latest scientific research to real-world patient care. She is currently teaching at Johns Hopkins and has served on faculty for over six years, lecturing on integrative and functional health.
Dr. Gutierrez is a Fellow of the Medical Academy of Pediatric Special Needs (MAPS), an Institute for Functional Medicine Certified Practitioner (IFM-CP), a Certified Clinical Nutritionist (CCN), and a Primary Care Mental Health Specialist (PCMHS). Her clinical background includes extensive training in neuronutrition, genomics, and integrative strategies to support complex mental health and neurodevelopmental conditions.
In her role as Chief Scientific Medical Liaison and Formulator for Neuro Nutrients, she develops clinically informed, research-backed supplements that support brain function, mood balance, and overall neurological resilience—designed for both pediatric and adult populations.
Through her clinical practice at Neuronutrition Associates, Dr. Gutierrez collaborates with families and practitioners to uncover the genetic, nutritional, and environmental factors driving chronic symptoms—empowering patients to move beyond symptom management and toward optimal health.

Jana earned her Baccalaureate degree in Human Development and Family Sciences from the University of Texas at Austin, followed by her nursing degree from the same institution. She began her career as an acute care registered nurse in pediatric hematology and oncology at Dell Children’s Medical Center, where her passion for helping children blossomed.
Determined to deepen her expertise, Jana returned to UT to pursue a Master’s degree in Nursing with a focus on Pediatric Nurse Practitioner studies. She is board certified by the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board and has dedicated many years to providing compassionate care in primary settings.
Her journey took a transformative turn as her interest in nutrition and health led her to explore functional medicine. Jana co-founded Neuronutrition Associates, where she provided holistic care tailored to children with complex chronic conditions. She is also a co-author of The Parent’s Roadmap to Autism, which is a functional medicine approach to treating autism.
She spent several years at Alive and Well Austin, helping them open their functional medicine clinic and is now back at Neuronutrition Associates to continue pediatric functional medicine care. Jana strives to empower families through holistic healthcare, fostering a nurturing environment that emphasizes the unique needs of each child.
As a fellow of the Medical Academy of Pediatric Special Needs and education from the Institute for Functional Medicine, Jana is committed to integrating innovative healing modalities into her practice. She is particularly passionate about supporting children with autism, PANDAS/PANS, and various learning challenges, ensuring they receive the comprehensive care they deserve.

Her commitment to advanced training is reflected in the completion of specialty hours in Functional Medicine, and she is currently pursuing further education through the Institute for Functional Medicine.
Caroline’s diverse nursing background spans work in transition nursery, pediatrics, and functional medicine. These experiences ignited her passion for root-cause medicine and family-centered care with personalized treatment plans tailored to the unique needs of each patient. In her practice, she empowers individuals to take an active role in their health by using lifestyle interventions, nutrition, and integrative therapies alongside traditional medical approaches.
Outside of her professional life, Caroline is a wife and mother of two. She enjoys traveling and spending time outdoors with her family. Her passion for movement and connection with nature mirrors her philosophy of balance, which she strives to embody both personally and professionally.
